Our connection to Toowoomba
Michele and Paul Sheehan, Solicitors / Lawyers, have a long personal history of servicing the legal requirements of people living in Toowoomba City and its surrounding districts.
Both Michele and Paul Sheehan commenced their respective legal careers in Toowoomba. By way of background, Paul Sheehan was educated at Downlands College, Toowoomba (1973 - 1976). Michele was educated at St. Saviors, Toowoomba ( - ). Both Paul and Michele's extended families are based in Toowoomba. Paul undertook two years' articles of clerkship with the respected law firm of Carswell & Orchard (as it was then known). He also worked as a clerk at the Public Trust Office Toowoomba. Michele gained initial experience working for the Public Trust Office Toowoomba and prior to that, at the Public Defenders Office, Brisbane.
Michele and Paul continue to have regular contact with their colleagues, friends and family in Toowoomba. We quite often service clients at their homes or business addresses as we travel through Toowoomba to our Brisbane CBD office or by special appointment. With the benefit of using modern technology, we are able to properly communicate with our Toowoomba clients and service their requirements. Distance is not a problem!
We are also proud to say that two of our employed solicitors have extremely strong ties to Toowoomba:
- Jenna Pacholke (nee Ginardi) graduated from the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, in 2012 attaining a Bachelor of Laws (Second Class Honours) degree. Her immediate family presently live in Toowoomba.
- Rebecca Rosser graduated from the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, in 2013 attaining a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) degree. Rebecca was also class Valedictorian and University Medalist. Her immediate family also reside in Toowoomba.
Our point of difference
Sheehan & Co's Principal Michele Sheehan is Queensland's only dual accredited Queensland Law Society Succession Law and accredited Family Law Specialist and has a special understanding of the issues that arise where Succession Law overlaps with Family Law particularly in the blended family context.
Michele's specialisations are an outstanding achievement given the fact that there are over 7,000 solicitors presently practising in Queensland.
She is recognised as one of the leading Succession Law practitioners in Queensland. Michele regularly chairs Queensland Law Society seminars and lectures. Further, she has most recently been appointed a Queensland Law Society Senior Counsellor, which represents recognition by the Queensland Law Society of Michele's standing in the profession, her willingness to help both clients and colleagues and her overall outstanding character.
What does this mean for our Toowoomba clients?
Sheehan & Co is the only firm of solicitors and lawyers on the Darling Downs and South West Queensland which is able to offer their clients specialist legal advice in the areas of both Succession Law and Family Law. This expertise represents a major advantage to our clients and better outcomes are achieved for our clients as a result.
Quite commonly, Succession Law and Family Law issues can overlap, particularly where clients are navigating blended family issues (i.e. where there are partners who have previously married and each or one of them has children from a previous relationship). It is fair to say that Michele "owns this area of law" so to speak and is recognised in the profession and generally as having a special expertise when dealing with blended family legal issues.
Michele's expertise is not just limited to this area - she has extensive practical experience in estate planning at all levels and has forged over many years excellent working ties with numerous financial advisors, insurance advisors and accountants throughout the region and Queensland during the process of formulating estate planning strategies for our clients.
